Virtual Tape Solutions
A virtualTape Library (VTL) enables disk to emulate leading tape libraries, delivering the speed, reliability, and availability benefits of disk-based backup
while allowing users to continue using existing tape backup software and procedures. VTL leverages a Fibre Channel or IP SAN to accelerate backup and restore speeds
and consolidate management and provisioning of backup resources. Data on virtual tapes can be easily exported to physical tapes for offsite storage and archiving.
In addition, existing physical tapes can be imported to disk via VTL to take advantage of much faster restore capabilities.

FalconStor® Virtual Tape Library (VTL) solutions optimize your tape-based backup software by enabling rapid backup and recovery while improving overall reliability.
FalconStor VTL uses high-speed disk to provision virtual tape drives and libraries to servers via iSCSI/IP or Fibre Channel (FC) storage area network (SAN).
It does not impact existing storage configurations, thus it preserves IT investments and operating knowledge. FalconStor VTL is tightly integrated with the next-generation de-duplication solution, FalconStor® Single Instance Repository (SIR), which increases nearline storage capacity while reducing storage cost and bandwidth needs for offsite replication.
